Here’s the door, 2022. See yourself out.

The end of the year is upon us. 2022 is about to close its final chapter. 2023 is about to begin writing a new story with fresh inkΒ  on blank pages. The last few days of the year are filled with colorful lights, festive cheer, plenty of delicous food and the warmth of hugs from family and friends. It’s a special time of year. The minds calm as they reminisce of the year gone by. And as we sit with loved ones we enjoy the feeling that this time of year is only able to provide.

This year we had some interesting things occur in the news, film and music. Also, we all collectively decided that COVID is ridiculous and we need to get back to life as we knew it. It was refreshing to see the world recognize the stupidity of that “illness” and the leaders who perpetuated the fear mongering. Thank you citizens of the world for uniting against stupidity and fear. As always, if you feel a little flu-ish, the good lord had man invent brown liquor for a reason. Take a shot, take a nap, and relax until you feel better. I am not a medical doctor.

Some of the top news stories this year included the death of Queen Elizabeth, Roe Vs Wade was overturned, the L.A. Rams won a Super Bowl, and Iranian women decided they had enough with Iranian men telling them how to dress. We also saw Theranos plummet to a value of zero dollars while Tesla and Apple exceeded market expectations. Speaking of Tesla, Elon Musk bought Twitter because he’s super rich and that’s a thing super rich people do, I suppose. And, we passed 8 billion people alive on this planet we call Earth. Meanwhile, some of you still complain about not being able to find a date for the holidays. Remarkable.

In media, we had so much to entertain us it was ridiculous. According to Box Office Mojo, the top 3 films of the year were “Top Gun: Maverick” followed by “Jurassic World: Dominion” and finally “Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.” This doesn’t include any of the streaming services, of which there are many. Nor does this inclde TV shows on regular TV, cable or streaming. The enterntainment was ever-present.

According to Billboard, the top song was “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals. The top artist was someone or something called the “Bad Bunny” and the top album was “As It Was” by Harry Styles. If this “Bad Bunny” has anything to with Bugs Bunny let me know in the comment section below. That might be worth my attention. πŸ€”β˜•οΈ

For me, I continued a few things. For example, I continued corresponding with my lady friend in Europe. I kept up with my reading, and foreign language studies. I continued weight lifting at the gym. In fact, I even took a fitness class with some folks. The gym, and the folks at the gym, continue to be a positive force in my life. Hiking didn’t slow down. And, I kept up with film making. This past year I made a film about my life since I turned 40 years old. πŸŽ‚πŸ»

A HIIT workout with some folks at VASA Fitness.

This year also saw some firsts for me. I went on a date this year. It was the first date I’ve been on in literal years. It was a lot of fun and the girl was great. Three more firsts all included jobs. I helped a company from Switzerland, a grocery store and a Security company. Yes, in 2022, I had three different jobs in fields I have never officially worked in before.

Another first was with Rey the Dog. We went to her first ever dog park. She is not a fan of the dog park. She enjoys going on trips and to the park. However, the “dog park” seems to bother her. She appeared confused as to why so many dogs run around without humans. She sat next to me almost the entire time looking around and back at me. Her face was constantly filled with curiosity and confusion as to the boldness of dogs approaching her and I.

As far as trips and travel go, I didn’t really get out to travel at all this year. However, that didn’t stop family from visiting. In all, 2022 was spent in Phoenix Arizona. I’m defintely due for a beach trip sooner than later. Speaking of trips, I’m still waiting on money from the last several years. Once that money arrives, I’ll be travelling a considerable amount for awhile… a long while. πŸŒ€πŸŒŠβ›΅οΈ

For reading, I continued to explore different topics. They included history, philosophy, psychology, science fiction, travel, and more. Some of the authors I read in 2022 were: Cavan Scott, David Cordingly, David Lieberman Ph.D., Friedrich Nietzsche, Immanuel Kant, Plato, Norman Lear, John Keegan, Henry Crumpton, Steven Pinker, Allen Dulles and more.

As far as music was concerned (according to Spotify) my listening habits were a mix of sounds. I explored over 200 genres with my top listening habits in Rock, Pop, Classical Performance, Neo-Classical and EDM. Apparently, I listened to 152,296 minutes of music. I listened to over 10,615 songs with the most played tracks being:

5: “Bluebird” by Alexis French
4: “Everything Is Alright” by Motion City Soundtrack
3: “Electricity” by Dua Lipa, Silk City & Diplo
2: “Dance With Me Tonight” by Olly Murs
1: “Still Into You” by Paramore

And over the course of 2022, I listened to over 5,286 artists. My most listened to artist was Frederic Chopin followed by Matchbox 20, Frank Sinatra, John Mayer & Johann Sebastian Bach.

There was no shortage of things to occupy my time in 2022.

As far as Television went, streaming services dominated that field. I believe the most dominating services of the services that dominated my TV show episode watching was Disney+. Let’s take a look at this past year on streaming. These are some of the shows that I have never watched before the year 2022.

Amazon: The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Hulu: Ghosted, Community
HBO Max: Our Flag Means Death, Peacemaker, Titans
Disney+: Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk Attorney At Law

As I look forward into 2023, I hope that the blessings abound. I hope I finally get my money. I hope I’m finally able to travel around Europe, buy my boat, set sail around Europe and beyond. I hope that friends and family are happy, successful and loved. I hope that the world calms down. And I hope that the people looking for love find it. It’s tough to go at life alone. If you’re looking for love, may it find you in 2023.

Rey the Dog and I look forward into 2023
